When we need blood for our canine patients, we have two options. Firstly we can bring in one of our own dogs and take blood from them. Secondly, we can use blood from the Pet Blood Bank. This second option is much easier for us when we need blood quickly and is our preferred option for emergency cases. Dogs have two major blood types and we stock both types here at Northwest Surgeons.
Just like the NHS blood bank, the Pet Blood Bank need donors. After the success of our recent session we are running our second session here on Sunday 26th February. To register contact us. We need dogs over 25kg, younger than 8 years old, fully vaccinated, never travelled abroad and not had pups.
