How can I get my pet referred?internal medicine

SN9A7489_OSS

Northwest Veterinary Specialists only provides specialist veterinary services, which means that we need all of our patients to be referred from your own veterinary practice. The process couldn’t be quicker or easier – just ask them to contact us and we’ll be in touch with you directly to make that important first appointment where we can take a full clinical history, carry out a physical examination and then discuss investigation and treatment options. You can request referral to us from your vet.

In an emergency

Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a referral hospital. In an emergency your first line contact is your own vet. We accept emergencies when referred directly from your vet.

If your pet is under our care and the emergency is related to the condition we are treating, please contact us. This will be detailed in the discharge instructions provided when your pet leaves the hospital.

Give us your feedback!

Our aim is to get better every day and your feedback matters. Use our comment, compliment & complain feature here to let us know what you think.

To keep up to date on all pet health matters, read our blog.

If your pet is insured, please bring your policy schedule (or certificate of insurance) and your insurance claim form with you. In some cases we may be able to process a direct claim to your insurance company for settlement of fees – your specialist will be able to discuss this with you at your first appointment. Otherwise our normal practice is to request payment of fees at the time your pet is discharged from our clinic – we accept payment by Visa &  Mastercard or transfer by BACS.

We now have access to a medical loans provider who specialise in financial loans for pet healthcare. Please click here or ask for details. The application process can be completed by you at home or in the hospital, giving an instant answer regarding the credit facility available to you.

Prescriptions

Prescriptions can be provided upon request. Certain medications may be cheaper or more convenient for you to obtain from a regular chemist and we will offer you this option. A fee is payable for each prescription. In order to provide you with either a prescription, or to continue dispensing long term medication a vet must examine your pet at least every six months. This is a requirement of our governing body the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Although Northwest Veterinary Specialists easily meets the standards for Silver certification, that’s not good enough for us! You can download leaflets on transporting your cat to our hospital here. For information on how to medicate your cat click here.
